Business Of The Month: “The Best Kept Secret”

The best kept secret in Lebanon is “K & Y Sales”.  K & Y Sales was established in 1942, by Simon Yespy and is still family-owned after 68 years. Located at 222 Canal Street since 1961,  they offer a full line of brand name furniture for your living, dining, family and bed rooms with names like Ashley, Serta, Restonic and Catnapper.  They also have appliances and audio/visual equipment from companies like Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Sharpe and Toshiba.  If you buy something from K & Y Sales, they will deliver it to your home or apartment, set it up and then remove the old.  How about that!  Need financing, they’ll do it for you.  This is why their customers love doing business with this family-owned and operated business.  There are 7 employees to assist you with your purchase, delivery, and continued service of your appliance or furniture choice. Their extended hours are Monday through Thursday 8AM-6PM, Friday 8AM-8PM, and Saturday 8AM-1PM—which make it easy for the working family.  Stop in and say hello to managers, John Hull (pictured) or George Ltyle, who will assist you with your purchase and get rid of your tired appliances or furniture. Guys, they can help you set up that man cave that would make you the envy of your block.  Find out for yourself.  John is waiting for that big hello.

Tips For Water Damage

Without a quick response to water damage, ongoing damage continues. You might think a little water won’t hurt anyone, but without proper attention—your small claim can turn into thousands of dollars. After a few days, bacterial odor and mildew appear, wood adhesives release causing de-lamination, metal surfaces start to rust. Within a few weeks, mildew sinks and destroys organic materials such as drywall, paneling and wood. Whether the water damage is caused by a small leak or floodwaters, make sure you take care of water damage.

In the event you have water damage to the interior of your home, call us to determine whether or not it is covered under your home insurance policy and follow these steps:

  1. Remove as much excess water as possible by mopping and blotting. Open windows in cool weather to speed the drying process.
  2. Place aluminum foil, wood blocks wrapped in plastic wrap, or plastic saucers between furniture legs and wet carpeting. Open cabinet drawers to dry out interiors.
  3. Remove area rugs from floor, pick up any books, magazine, or other items from wet floor.
  4. Drilling small holes in the ceiling and placing a bucket underneath, will relieve trapped water.
  5. Always remember to be CAUTIOUS when walking through a room that has a wet ceiling. If in doubt about a ceiling’s stability—do not enter the room.
  6. Do not use your regular household vacuum cleaner to remove water. Do not use TV’s, radios, computers, or any electrical appliance while standing on wet carpets or floors, especially concrete and tile floors.
